How Much is Too Much? Teen athletes and overuse injuries
Over the past decade youth sports have become more and more competitive. The level of performance that is expected of our young athletes in high school today is similar to the level of performance that was expected in college sports 10 years ago. Unfortunately, all too often, their young, developing bodies are not ready for the amount of training and repetitive stress that this level of performance demands.
In this highly informative talk Dr. Kliman will:
- Discuss the overuse injuries that he sees in young athletes in various sports, their causes and treatment
- Explore why these types of injuries are becoming more common among our children and teens
- Introduce strategies for parents to help their young athletes avoid these types of injuries
