About Our Practice

We are dedicated to providing our patients and their families with state of the art, compassionate medical care. We understand the fear, stress and pressures faced by people with eating disorders, their parents and spouses. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge and support you need to get through this difficult time.

The philosophy of our practice is that we are a team working together for our patients’ recovery. We are committed to providing our patients with state-of the-art medical care and assuring that their treatment team is working in an integrated fashion. Appointments are scheduled so that you never feel rushed and always have adequate time to have all of your questions answered and concerns addressed.

Our practice consists of a three-pronged integrated approach to eating disorder treatment.

  • Medical Monitoring

After a thorough initial medical intake examination, Dr. Carlton will closely monitor your medical condition. At each visit, Dr. Carlton will check your vital signs, perform a thorough medical examination and order any necessary tests. She will then sit down with you and answer all of your questions and address any concerns that you might have.

  • Team Compilation and Coordination

After the initial intake examination, Dr. Carlton will utilize her extensive network of dietitians, therapists and psychiatrists to help organize a treatment team tailored to your unique needs. She will then act as “team coordinator.” Dr. Carlton will speak with each treatment team member after each office visit (or more frequently if needed) and get their input on: how they feel things are progressing, any problems that need to be addressed and goals for the next weeks and beyond.

  • Parent and Family Support and Coaching

Dr. Carlton is always available to sit down with the patient’s parents, spouses or other family members to address all of their questions and concerns. However, we are aware that questions and concerns do not just occur during business hours. Therefore, Dr. Carlton will be available to you by pager 24-hours a day.
